HP ink/toner cartridge X or A?

I have to order supplies for my company's printers (all HP) and i've noticed that they always have the same ink/toner such as 13A or 13X, is the only difference the amount of pages it yields? The X seems to give out more paper for a few dollars more? Is this the only difference?

The X versions usually offer anywhere from a 25% to 2 times the number of pages compared to the A version.

I understand that the format is different. However, the physical dimensions of 35mm film and 126 film are very close. Wonder if the sprocket spacing and such could cause a problem?

I think I faintly remember using 126 cartridges when I was little kid in the 1980s. I don't think they used sprockets. So, theoretically, it should be possible. The only issue I see is that the entire film will be exposed, including the border and sprocket holes, because I think 126 film was a little bit wider than 35mm. It would look pretty strange. But still, there's no reason why you couldn't get decent pictures from that, especially if you used an enlarger to make traditional prints. You could just crop it out on the negative carrier.

The film doesn't determine the frame size, the camera does. For example, you can get several different frame sizes from 120 film. If you use 120 film on a Yashica A, you'll get 6X6 negatives, but with that same film on a Zeiss Ikon Nettar, you get 6X9 negatives. Film doesn't have frames or borders until you expose it in the camera.

I'll give you an example. I've accidentally advanced film on my cameras without firing the shutter. When you develop the film, the fixer clears it, and it just looks like one clear strip without any frames. The film doesn't care what size camera you use, as long as you advance the film enough to move to the next frame for THAT particular camera. The other proof of this is that some people actually cut film into custom sizes and re-spool their own film. It doesn't have any frames until you expose it on the camera.

I think I understand what you're doing...you have an old 126 camera and you want to try it out? But 126 film is hard to find now. I think there is only one company still making it, a manufactuer in Italy. So yeah, you can try re-spooling your own film. Just do it in a dark room or with a changing bag.

EDIT: I just thought about it though, and the other problem is what are you going to use for backing paper? If I remember right, 126 cartridges used backing paper (like 120 film does), and there was a little window on the back of the cartridge that showed how many exposures you have left. If you have any backing paper from an old 126 cartridge, that might work. But it's going to be kind of a complicated project. It's definetely possible and doable, just tricky.
