If I am self employed and give away my services for free, is it tax deductible?

live in Australia and am a self employed music teacher. There is a friend going through hardship at the moment and would like to have music lessons but can't. If I give away music lessons for free can this come off my tax? I seem to remember in tax pack there is a section asking if you have given away anything for less than its value.

You might have just read something about valuing gifts of property given to deductible gift recipients, or maybe something to do with capital gains or adjustments on disposal of assets. But you can't deem a market value for gifts of services for tax deduction purposes. A gift of services doesn't come within the definition of a gift in the Tax Act.
