Drum kit is an English term. It was first created in the 1700s. It is also called Trap set. A full size drum set without any additional musical instruments instruments has a bass drum, floor tom, snare drum, tom-toms, hi-hat cymbals, a ride cymbal and a crash cymbal. Many things are decided before buying. However, some company such as Drum Workshop, Slingerland, and Tama Drums, use the opposite rule, and consider the depth of the drum. The Drums are identified by size 5" x 14".Some new manufacturers such as Premier Percussion Drum set, Pearl Drums set, Sonor Drum set, Mapex Drum set, and Yamaha Drum set the normal size for a 5 piece, are; 22" x 18" bass drum, 12" x 9" rack tom, 13" x 10" rack tom, 16" x 16" floor tom and a 14" x 5.5" snare drum. There are varieties. Some famous drummers who played some of these above Drum kits are, Louie Bellson (1940) who played his two fold bass drum kit, Ringo (1964) of Beatles played with Ludwig kit and gradually the trend towards larger drum kit began thereafter. Rock music became famous in 1970. The use of electronic Drums also came into way of life.

you can get a beginners kit, thats decent from Guitar Center's website. But online is your best bet, any kit that has a basic set-up (bass, floor tom, 2 rack toms, and a snare) should be good. The kits that have cymbals already are usually best for beginners because then you dont have to spend 400$ to get good cymbals. Try looking up Rockwood, or any cheap version of tama, or pearl.
