Compatible Laser Cartridge
Compatible Laser Cartridge

There is much confusion in the industry of computer printer on the term "OEM" "Compatible" and "recycled."
For purposes of this section are defined as follows:
"OEM" means OE riginal M quipment anufacture
"Compatible" cartridges are new cartridges made by a third party vendor.
Recycled "used ink cartridges "that have been dismantled and cleaned all the old toner. The components were replaced as needed and toner cartridge refilling with new, reassembled, tested and packaged for sale.
Drum units used in the two-party system may be included in this definition, even if they are not strictly renovated the unit is disassembled and cleaned, replaced the old drum by a new unit and reassemble.
Note that both original and compatible cartridges cartridges may contain elements or parts which have been recycled. For example, Hewlett Packard has issued the following statement in his cartridge box -
"This original HP cartridge contains as original parts. Designated parties that meet the original specifications for design HP print quality high and reliable performance could be recovered selectively by the return and recycling of HP. "
Most compatible cartridges and remanufactured laser toner cartridges sold in New Zealand are now manufactured in Asia. The reason is that factories in Asia are able to produce and ship cartridges for New Zealand at a price that is near or below cost of production in New Zealand.
The change of refurbishment in New Zealand originally compatible and remanufactured cartridges from Asia, has generally improved the overall quality of cartridges OEM toner available.
This quality improvement is that suppliers renowned NZ buy factories that comply with ISO9001 and ISO14001 and, the remanufactured cartridges, comply with CMTS. All of which means they produce cartridges for a strict quality standard.
CMTS is TSM tandardised EST COMMITTEE ethods C which operates under the auspices of Imaging Technology Council International. Details are available on Citi.
Until I know there are STMC certified recyclers cartridge in New Zealand and all those that are compatible ISO9001 and ISO14001.
This means that cartridges compatible Refurbished and are supplied by factories in Asia to a higher level that is or was available New Zealand and in general are so good as the original cartridge supplied by printer manufacturers.
providers are trusted to protect the environmental values inherent in the reuse of cartridges remanufacturing encourage customers to return empty cartridges are returned to Asia (usually via Australia, where they are sorted and evaluated) for reuse or recycling.
In short, you can now purchase high quality replacement cartridges with confidence trhe be at least as good as OEM cartridges, thus saving money while preserving environmental values.
What is a good HP printer to buy with the following features?
I am looking for a HP printer with the following: photo printer, scanner, copier, card reader, uses little ink and uses 2 ink cartridges at a time or, uses the 6 cartridges if there is a very good reason.
Optional features: networking compatible (wireless/wired), Server 2003/2008 driver support. Able to print on a cd/dvd disc.
I mostly want a HP printer that uses little ink if possible. I don't know about how the themal ink jets are now a days. My HP printer is a few years old and it sucks on ink. I have Windows Server on a workgroup (on a seperate drive and partition) and if possible a printer that supports servers. However, It's optional. Price range $200 or less (mostly between $60-150 but, no more then $200). Oh this price range is in Canadian funds. I don't want a laser only printer inkjet.
Any recommendations?
It's up to you, of course, but I would advise against HP printers. I bought an HP Photosmart and it broke within six months. I got another one and it did the same thing within a few months. It will no longer take paper out of the paper feed tray. You have to manually feed it sheet by sheet.
I always liked Epson printers and as soon as my ink runs out on the HP, I'm going to get an Epson.
You might also check out Kodak printers. They cost a little more, but apparently they charge a lot less for their inks than other companies.
