Choosing the Right Greeting Cards for the Holidays
It's that time of the year again when everyone is looking forward to the festive atmosphere brought about by the spirit of Christmas. It's the time of thinking about loved ones and choosing the appropriate gift to give to family and friends. Since this is only once a year, we tend to think of giving our loved ones the best and most expensive gifts as if to make sure that it lasts the whole year through. However, with the financial crisis that we are all facing, most of us might find ourselves buying gifts way beyond what we can afford. If you are in this situation, then you may want to consider sending greeting cards instead this year. However, you need to be conscious that when you send out cards you have to make sure that you add your personal touch to the card to make it even more special for the recipient.
There are so many Christmas cards that you can choose from. Store bought cards or commercial cards seem to be in abundance at this time of the year in your local bookstores and department stores. There are Charity Christmas cards that you can get from charitable institutions as well. You not only get beautifully made cards, you also help the institution raise money for charity. The most famous of these institutions would be the Unicef Christmas Card Program. The designs of the cards from Unicef are mostly artworks by well-known international artists and these designs are mass produced for distribution. You can also choose to send electronic greeting cards from websites like BlueMountain.com, PassionUp.com and even Hallmark.com. But if you want a very personalized card you can make your own cards at home and experience the pleasure of creating a work of art to convey the Christmas spirit to your family, friends and colleagues.
In choosing the perfect Christmas card, make sure that the card design is appropriate for the occasion and it has the right message that matches your feelings for the recipient. For 2010, Christmas cards are designed using bold colors. The most popular color would be icy blue as predicted by Cosmoworld. But of course, the usual design of hollies, pine cones, snowflakes, winter wonderland, the nativity scene, and stars would still be the common theme of these greeting cards.
Card manufacturers tend to make their designs very intricate with a lot of words to go with the design. If you choose to buy commercial Christmas cards, make sure to keep it simple. My personal rule of thumb in choosing my cards is to look at whether I have enough space to write personal notes to my recipients. This is the surest way to ensure that you are able to add your own personal touch on your cards. However, I sometimes find myself picking a card with a lot of words on it because sometimes, especially if you have all the time in the world, you will find that some cards bear words that convey the exact message you want to send to your recipient. Most of the time, when I do this though, I still find myself tweaking the words to suit my needs.
Once you are ready to send your card, make sure to sign the card with your name both inside and on the envelope. Sending a card with a typed address on the envelope is considered very impersonal. Spend the time writing the recipients name and address on the envelope before mailing the card and make sure to address it properly following proper etiquette.
There are a lot of things to do to make sure that you are able to send the perfect Christmas Greeting cards to your loved ones. If you don't want to go wrong with your choices, start shopping for cards as early as now. You don't need to buy everything all at once. You may want to list down the names of the persons you want to send cards to and work through the list. If you have a very long list, then ensure to set aside at least an hour a day to sit down and write your personal notes for the card recipients. You may need more hours to do this depending on how late you start working on your card giving project. Finally, knowing that the postal service becomes very hectic during the Christmas season, make sure to mail your cards early to ensure that the recipients get the cards from you right on time.
